Drydock Upgrade -
The upgrade of Lyon Shipyard Drydock #1 began in early 2010. Drydock #1 was towed from her slip of over 30 years on March 8th and immediately headed to the Baltimore area to be hauled at Sparrow’s Point Shipyard for extensive modernization. Oil Spill erroneously reported at Lyon Shipyard -
On Monday March 1, 2010, an oil spill occurred at the Six M Marine facility in Norfolk, located at the head of a small creek near Campostella Road which drains into the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River. The initial call received by the Coast Guard reported the spill as being “across from Lyon Shipyard”. Lyon Shipyard operates a small repair yard on the south side of the Elizabeth River at the mouth of this creek; Six M is approximately 200 yards upstream and is not associated with Lyon Shipyard in any way. read more...
